the venture capitalist walks us through the total addressable market
an interview with a venture capitalist who just led the seed round · 1 min read
GEBS: Walk us through your investment thesis.
VC: Every human who has ever lived is a potential customer's parent. That's the whole slide. I didn't even need a second slide, but I made forty anyway, because that's what you do.
GEBS: Some would call this dystopian.
VC: Some people called ride-sharing "getting into strangers' cars for money," and now look at it. Dystopian is just "early," said by someone who didn't get in on the round.
GEBS: What's your exit strategy?
VC: Generational. Literally. We're not selling to the baby, we're selling to the baby's future kids, who are also our customers, who are also selling to their kids. It's not a subscription business. It's a bloodline with a cap table.
GEBS: Any regrets?
VC: I should've asked for a board seat inside the actual child. Next round.
